I birded the Paint Branch Trail between the
University and Cherry Hill Rd. It was pretty quiet
and I had just about given up on seeing anything
when I spotted a raptor too far away (for me)
to safely identify.
My active imagination insisted it was a Peregrine
so I settled in to wait for it to move. After 35
minutes or so, just as it was starting to sleet,
the bird took flight and then landed close enough
that I could see it really was a Peregrine Falcon.
When I left it was still perched in the swampy
area behind the golf course.
