I made an early afternoon trip to Greenbelt Lake today.
Most of the birds reported in the past few days are still
there. I did not see a Gadwall or a male Pintail (there was
one female Pintail), but I was consoled by a new arrival,
a single female Common Goldeneye. Thanks to Tom Feild
for pointing out this bird.
There were also a couple Shovelers there swimming
close together in a tight circle with their heads underwater.
They seemed to hardly even come up for air. Is this typical
Shoveler behavior?
