This morning as I was about to open the back door to fling seed for my ground
feeders (this week a Towhee has joined them), a Merlin cruised the yard --and
birdfeeder--again. I've seen it three times now, and would probably see it
more if I were home more. The first time (in December) it perched in a nearby
tree for 15 minutes consuming a bird. It made for a really nice addition to the
yard bird list! Any chance this could be the same bird that people have been
reporting at Lake Roland? I'm in Mt. Washington, not too far from Lake Roland
as birds fly. Also, there was a pair of Hooded Mergansers in the Jones Falls by
the Mt. Washington Starbucks last week, downriver from Lake Roland.
