Today on my daily afternoon trip through Greenbelt Lake, I came upon a
Greater White-fronted Goose.

It was on the west side of the lake, near the dam. I got to within 10 feet
and observed it carefully for 15 minutes before hurrying home to alert my
brother. By the time we returned, it was just flying away, heading North
East towards the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center.

I was very careful to check against the possibility of it being a Graylag.
The white front, ping/orange bill, orange legs, white tail tip, and white
flank-line were all very noticeable and conspicuous. It didn't come out of
the water to let me see how prominent its dark bars were, but I was able to
see its gray coverts.

I looked at many images of Graylags and GWF online just to make sure and I'm
99% certain.

And to think, I debated going birding at all because of the wind.
