Hi all,

On my way back from running errands yesterday (like stopping at Sam's Club
to pick up my wife's prescription while she's in California seeing
Golden-crowned Sparrows (I'm jealous)), I decided I'd spend a little time
birding.

I went and hit my "usual" spots on Loch Raven Reservoir. i.e. the woods at
Warren/Poplar Hill/Merryman Mills Rds., the woody area and bridge at Paper
Mills Rd., and the first fire trail on Phoenix Rd. I was rewarded with some
good stuff. The first stop wasn't too good, though I did here some Killdeer
and see a few American Crows, as well as getting a glipse of a possible
Osprey(?) flying north over the reservoir.

At my second spor, I saw a bunch of Song Sparrows, and out among the Canada
Geese was a raft of Ring-Necked Ducks. Scattered among the Ring-Neckeds
were Mallards, Gadwall, All But Ducks (oops, American Black, or AB Ducks),
and Green-winged Teal! On the fire trail, I had Juncos, more Song Sparrows,
a heard Belted Kingfisher, a few White-throated Sparrows and an elusive
Downy (or Hairy?) Woodpecker. All in all, I had five year birds for the
day.

However, I'd glady trade these year birds for the ability to "mumble and
grumble about other's sightings from my dark cubicle at work".

Good birding,
Richard
