As predicted (which does not happen often!), I saw my first Osprey at Jug
Bay this morning (6:30 AM). It probably arrived late yesterday; it was resting
quietly on a nest platform out back when I saw it. The strong southern
weather system yesterday gave birds a perfect opportunity to move north.
Their timing is amazing; I 've been here eight Springs now and the first
Ospreys always show up in last week of Feb (rarely), or first week in March
(most years). I bet there will be one seen today at Schoolhouse Pond also.
They are a very reliable mark for the arrival of Spring.
Cheers!
