The Baltimore Bird Club's walk into the Picnic Area this cold, windy
morning produced 35 species. Most of the ice has disappeared around the
point and we were treated with good views of Common Goldeneyes,
Redheads, Common Mergansers, and Horned Grebes. Several Bald Eagles were
observed. Very few passerines. Maybe the steady winds kept them undercover.
