I finally got over to see the REDHEADS at Constitution Gardens this
afternoon. There were six, I think - four males and two females. They
were together with American Wigeons, Ring-necked Ducks, Lesser Scaup,
and American Coots.

The RED-NECKED GREBE was about a third to halfway down along Washington
Channel. I got great views of it from the East Potomac Park side.

Other birds on the Mall:
- Lesser Scaup on the Potomac and Washington Channel
- Common Mergansers in the Tidal Basin
- Red-breasted Mergansers in the Tidal Basin and Washington Channel
- DC Cormorant in the Washington Channel
- Red-tailed Hawks at the Tidal Basin and the Capitol
- Golden-crowned Kinglets in the hollies along the Tidal Basin
- Swamp Sparrow at the Indian Museum
- Common Grackles at Constitution Gardens

One non-bird highlight - a beaver was sitting at the edge of the Tidal
Basin, near the outlet bridge.

Good birding,

John Beetham
