Folks

I went out about 15 minutes ago to refill some feeders that startled a Red-breasted Nuthatch at one of my Waldorf, MD feeders. My first of the year. Probably brought in by the weather. The quick look was not long enough to show gender but my guess is female. I saw no rufous as the bird flew to the nearby oak tree. I will keep an eye on that feeder more carefully now.

I also have had hundreds of blackbirds today. Mostly Red-wings, but Cowbirds and Common Grackles are well (really) represented.

One Hermit Thrush and about three Fox Sparrows are also actively feeding. No Rusty Blackbirds yet.

Feed the birds.

George
