When the snow stopped about 4PM today I decided to go out to Morgan Run and check on the owls and the condition of the parking lot. I found only one owl at the site but it was easily visible from the trail. I showed it to two park rangers as well as two other people who came by. A fox had been through the thicket but probably did not disturb the owls. I followed its tracks and found some blood in the snow with no feathers so it probably caught a small rodent. The parking lot is covered with three inches of snow but it is gravel and there was good traction. I will meet people at the parking lot at 9AM tomorrow to give the birds another try. In the morning roads may be icy and so may be the parking lot. Drive accordingly.
