Robert, thanks for your post yesterday.
Try as I did, the only grebes I saw today were a handful of Pied-billed... I
could not find the Horned Grebe this afternoon (but did bump into another
friend on the trail who had also seen it yesterday).
The Blue-winged Teal was right by the "floating dock" in the general company
of coots and wood ducks (of which there were at least a dozen, many paired).
Several Scaup were present (I'm still working on greater vs. lesser), as
were two female Red-breasted Mergansers.
Also, along the Paint Branch Trail in the general vicinity of Lake
Artemesia, I had a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, my FOY Yellow-rumped warbler
and perhaps the neatest was a Northern Rough-winged Swallow on a wire right
at the intersection of Route 1 and Lakeland Rd.!
Good Birding,
Ryan Farrell
