Observations from my walk this morning along the trail from Cherry
Hill Rd. to UMD campus (raptors were conspicuously absent). Nothing
too extraordinary, but perhaps a few birds of interest:

Highlights:
Eastern Pheobe - 4 (FOY, distinct individuals I believe)
Belted Kingfisher - 2 (pair at the swamp)
Wilson's? Snipe - 4 (Southernmost USDA field)
Killdeer - 6 to 8 (w/ snipe and alongside golf-course pond)
Fox Sparrow - 1 (Thought they'd left, but evidently not yet!)
Field Sparrow - 1

Lots of woodpeckers, especially flickers (very vocal too).

Also, I just received word from Mike Ostrowski that there's another
Horned Grebe at Lake Artemesia (first seems to have left early
Monday), this one not in breeding plumage yet.
