This morning I saw a single Horned Grebe (in winter plumage) at
Greenbelt Lake. This is a "new" species (for me, anyway) at the lake.

Besides the Canadas and Mallards, other waterfowl included:
1 Pied-billed Grebe
1 Lesser Scaup
5 Ring-necked Ducks
1 female Canvasback
3 Wood Ducks - 1 male, 2 females - sitting in a tree
2 Hooded Mergansers - 1 male, 1 female

I also saw a Red-shouldered Hawk in the neighborhood. I listened
for woodcock again this morning and think I might have heard a
flight song, but it (and practically everything else) was drowned out
by the arrival overhead of a traffic helicopter (one of many drawbacks
of living near the Beltway, alas).
