I've been taking lunch break walks along a "nature" trail near my workplace;
today I was treated to an unexpectedly early BLUE-HEADED VIREO. It drew
attention to itself with a call reminiscent of the scold notes of a Yellow-throated
Vireo, a raspy "chee-chee-chow" call. Other birds - Red-shouldered Hawk
calling and flying over to another calling bird, Fox Sparrows and a Field Sparrow.
The hawks are local residents on territory; the others named are migrants.
