I've been hearing rumors about Turkeys roaming the woods of Cheverly, MD all
winter. A police officer told me he spotted one this afternoon, so I took off to
check it out. Sure enough - at Cheverly Ave. and Forest Road there was an
American Turkey. If you come looking for it, I suggest you pull off and park in
the Methodist Church parking lot. Look over the grounds around the church,
the park across the street and the houses on Forest Road.
The police told me they have been getting calls from folks about Turkeys
along Columbia Park Road in Cheverly, which is right by the Cheverly Metro
station. There are some woods behind the parking lot of the station, and a
few parks behind those woods as well.
In other birds -
Chipping Sparrows have been singing and showing up at the feeders this week.
