Hello Rob,
   
  The bird was out in the short garss around the runways.  It was slinking around in the grass by the extreme northwest side of the airport.

National Airport is in Arlington County, Virginia.   Eastern Meadowlark is a very good bird for Arlington  (much better than for DC, where one or more birds have  lingered into June at Kenilworth Park in recent  years).  The leading Arlington birder saw her first  county meadowlark just two or three years ago.      I'm curious -- was the meadowlark actually on the  airport, or was it at Gravelly Point?
