Folks

This afternoon I noticed a Carolina Wren rushing out of my garage every time I went into the garage from the house. The last time I saw he/her leave he/she had a straw in its mouth. I suspected nest building in the garage. I can't keep the door up all the time if young hatch out, so this could lead to a lost nest.

I decided to look around. I found that the nest was being built in the garage door opener unit. This is where a nest was built two years ago. I removed the nesting material, and took the white plastic covers off both ends.

Keep an eye out for this species. They will pick all kinds of locations and some are not good for the Carolina Wren. They have plenty of other places outside that will be better choices.

Atlas forever.

George
