One year I opened my workshop door and found fledgling wrens everywhere.
Carolina Wrens had nested in one of the gloves of the sand-blasting cabinet
and had started a new nest in the other glove.

I gathered up all the baby wrens and relocated them to the front room of the
shed (away from the machinery). Over the next half hour, the five fledglings
formed an anxious line on the threshold of the shed door. The parents called
and called frantically from nearby bushes, but the babies would not budge.

After another fifteen minutes, one of the babies made a brave flutter to the
boxwood bush. The others soon followed and all was once again safe and quiet
for the sandblaster wrens.
