Wednesday, on my way home from work, as I crested the
Solomons bridge, I noticed a bright white bird toward
the south. It banked showing solid black wing tips:
Northern Gannet. Then I noticed four or five more of
them wheeling around the river on both the St. Mary's
and Calvert sides. There were none this morning.
This is the time of year when I usually see at least a
few wandering up the river but balking at the physical
barrier of the bridge.
