Greetings,

During my three day (and counting) boycott of work this week, I have spent
most of my time doing yard work and homework. This afternoon however, I
spent an hour leisurely walking around my yard and canoeing the guts in front
of the house. In that time I heard/say thirty four species including some I'd
not seen in the yard in a while as well as adding a new yard bird (#138)!

The notables include: Great Egret (1), Red-breasted Merganser (3 F), Osprey
(2 NB), Red-shouldered Hawk (resident), Eastern Phoebe (2 singing), Pileated
Woodp. (2), Golden Crowned Kinglet (5), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1), White-
throated Sparrow (2 singing), Dark-eyed Junco (scores singing), SWAMP
SPARROW (singing)

The Swamp Sparrow was the new yard bird. Before I set out today I decided
that I wanted to spend more time birding my yard this spring in hopes of
finding at least 5 new species. Well I knocked off one today! Maybe I'll make
this a real contest and try to get to 150 by June?

Good Birding
