Hi all,

Saturday, I went dirding near the Longview golf course near where I live in
Cockeysville.

Anyway, there is an area that is signed as being a "natural" area. Yet all
the treess are being cut down and the area is being cleared. So much for
being natural.

The highlights were a pair of (out in the open) Fox Sparrow, a Swamp Sparrow
down by the stream that feeds into the ponds near the Historical Society
building, a Red Shouldered Hawk, (what I believe to be) an Eastern Towhee,
and several Flickers.

I also had a white bird zoom over my head as i walked from the county
maintenance building on Galloway Ave. It was owl size of so, and I heard no
wing flap as it flew by me. I can't imagine what it was. The only bird
that comes to mind is a gull, but what would a gull be doing in a woodsy
area? The only white owl would be a snowy and most owls would not be out
during the day. Strange.

good birding,
Richard
