During a seasonal count of resident Canada Geese along the tidal basin of
the Anacostia River, I sighted a Common Loon almost directly opposite the
office building of National Capital Parks - East.
The bird was almost completely in breeding plumage.

Other species sighted were Pied-billed Grebe, Double-crested Cormorant,
Mallard, Canada Goose, Osprey, Caspian Tern, Ring-billed Gull,
Great Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, and Tree Swallow.
