Someone really busted open the swallow pinata in Maryland this week!

I quickly buzzed by the Freedom Park pond at Andrews AFB again this
afternoon and spotted three Pied-billed Grebes, and a plethora of Tree
Swallows accompanied by two N.Rough-winged Swallows. The wind really soured
my tenacity, so I hit the road north to the Patuxent Research Refuge to
check out the lakes for waterfowl.

Just after exiting car, I spotted a brilliant little yellow fellow bouncing
through the trees like a five-year-old at the ball pit in Chuck E. Cheese's.
I couldn't ID it fast enough, and took a couple of terrible pictures, but
with a little help from Bill- was able to ID it as a Palm Warbler.

On Lake Reddington, plenty more Tree Swallows manically filled up on bugs
over a preening American Coot. A Red-tailed Hawk gave a nice fly by, and a
Great Blue Heron shivered in the reeds.

During a quick walk in the woods adjacent to the 1/3 mile walking path, my
dear Fiona and I spotted a fistful of robins, Eastern Phoebes, a Red-bellied
Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, GC Kinglet, and a couple of Eastern Bluebirds.
That's it- it was cold, and we high tailed it out of there.

Mazel Birding!
