Hi Folks!
While driving home this afternoon [ca. 4:40 PM], I had an adult male PAINTED
BUNTING, fly across the road in front of my car. Clearly seen were a dark
head, green back, dark wings with a flash of red, and a dark tail. It was
overcast, but not raining. The bird crossed the road about 20 feet in front, so
bins were not needed. The location was along Friendship Road, about half-way
between Friendship [by Rt. 2] and Herrington Harbor in southern Anne Arundel
County.
I believe the bird kept flying north. This was a section of road with
dubious road shoulders for pulling off. Since I did not have my camera with me, I
did not investigate further. Right now it is pouring with lighting blasts.
Good Birding!
