   This morning I traveled around northwestern Carroll County looking for field birds and any others that caught my eye or ear.
Canada Goose  14, some sitting low on nests
Mallard  2
Common Merganser  1 male flying down the Monocacy at Keysville-Frederick County Rd bridge
Great Blue Heron  2
Red-shouldered Hawk  1 adult at Mumma Ford
Red-tailed Hawk  8 including five on Roop Rd
Kestrel  5 including 3 on Roop Rd
Killdeer  5 including three on John Shirk Rd
Barred Owl  1 heard
Pileated Woodpecker  1 at Sixes Bridge
Phoebe  2
Brown Creeper  1 at Mumma Ford
Ruby-crowned Kinglet  1 singing at Mumma Ford
Brown Thrasher  3 singing
Myrtle Warbler  4 at Mumma Ford
Vesper Sparrow  3 singing, John Shirk Rd, Sharrett Rd, Keysville-Frederick County Rd
Junco  13, including 10 on John Shirk Rd
Meadowlark  4 scattered round singing
