I was just looking at the range maps for the Eastern Towhee on the
Patuxent bird identification web site (USGS). They have a Breeding Bird
Survey map that shows the Towhee solidly in the eastern U.S., and they
have a Christmas Bird Count map that shows the Eastern Towhee all over
the country. Is the database lumping Towhees here, or do our Towhees
really spread all over the country in winter (sounds unlikely to me)?

Please reply off list.
