This afternoon Molly Bryden and I spent a few hours walking around at Piney
Reservoir in Garrett County. The water level in the reservoir was very high
and turbid, but birds were abundant.

Species present included:

Canada Goose
Wood Duck (8)
Mallard
Scaup (Raft on far side of reservoir)
Ring-necked Duck
COMMON LOON (1)
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER (~45 in a large raft near the dam)
American Coot
Great Blue Heron
Osprey
Double-crested Cormorant
Swamp Sparrow
Chipping Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
Belted Kingfisher
American Kestrel

We also saw 2 muskrats, a northern two-lined salamander, and a number of
salamander egg masses.

Good Birding!
