While birding with Andy Martin this morning at Hughes Hollow, we saw an
American Bittern flying over the marshy impoundment. It then returned several
times. Another woman said she had had four Am. bitterns fly over her head 30
minutes earlier.

Other highlights:

White-eyed vireo
Kingbirds
Great Crested Flycatcher
MALE BLUE GROSBEAK - I saw this at the far end of the dike after it makes a
sharp right heading back to the road. It was halfway back on top of some
brush on the path.

On Sycamore Landing Road,I heard four WOOD THRUSHES and eventually saw
one. There was also a singing FIELD SPARROW in the field (!) on the left of
the road.

On the canal - PROTHONOTARY WARBLER
                     Common Yellowthroat

Eating my lunch at 2 pm at Poole's General Store I saw a PARULA warbler.

Not a bad day.
