This a.m., I was surprised to find a singing prothonotary warbler off
Jones Mill Road. I first saw it from the purple-blazed path that runs
from behind purple playground equipment just off the road, near the
Woodend entrance (but on the other side of the road). About 100 yards
down this path there are two fallen trees side by side and a good
view of Rock Creek. First heard and saw the bird there.

About 45 minutes later, the bird was singing at the edge of a small
swamp that sits right off the paved bike path and very close to the
small tract owned by ANS (which is adjacent to Rock Creek Park and
across the street from Woodend's main entrance).

I saw that a photo of a prothonotary was posted on the signboard
where the ANS property meets RCP. Does anyone know if the birds breed
here? I don't think I've ever chanced upon a prothonotary anywhere in
Rock Creek Park in Montgomery County. Then again, I've never really
birded this path before....
