Birded the maintenance yard briefly mid-a.m. The yard itself lacked
warblerage, but made up for it in possibly two dozen goldfinches,
four indigo buntings, a field sparrow, and many white-throated
sparrows. On the walk back along the wooded trail to the stables, I
heard a sudden burst of activity that included one black-throated
green, one black-and-white, one ovenbird, and one close, clearly
heard but not seen cerulean warbler (a burry
"bleary-bleary-bleary-sissy-EEE"). Other birds included 1-2
yellow-billed cuckoos, four indigo buntings, and one wood thrush, as
well as one brilliant Baltimore oriole singing at the edge of the
maintenance yard.
