Yesterday was a humbling day- Frederick County was pretty naked in my yellow
book when I left the house this morning. Well...it still is. Aside from the
20 or so birds that can be seen in most Maryland yards, I got skuuuuuunked.

On/around the path to the Thurmont Overlook in Catoctin- dead quiet. I mean,
terrible "Blair Witch Project" quiet. There still isn't any undergrowth in
the woods, but even the woodpeckery habitat didn't yield a single knock.

I did get five Carroll Co birds in the 2-3 miles of I-70 on the way west! ;)

Lake Cunningham, Frederick Co.- nothing too special
Common Loon- uno, very handsome in it's formalwear
Canada Geese
Mallards
TUVUs
Osprey- 3
RT Hawk- little immature guy that looked lost perched in an oak
Pigeons
Mourning Doves
Belted Kingfisher
Downy Woodpecker
Tree Swallows- <10
Barns Swallow- lots >50
BJays
Am Crow
Car. Chickadees- (really mad at something- couldn't find what)
E. Bluebird
Am. Robins
N. Mockingbird
Eu. Starlings (out the "yin-yang")
N. Cardinal
Chipping Sparrows (gobs)
Song Sparrows
and a bunch of HOSP at the visitor's center.
