One upside to not having been out much lately is that a day like today can
feel like Christmas and New Year's rolled into one. It was a good morning for
warblers and thrushes at Milford Mill Park in Randallstown, where I started, and
the Halethorpe Ponds also produced some goodies. Altogether I picked up 20(!)
FOY birds by late morning, 12 warblers and 65 species total, and the Veery
and Swainson's Thrushes were personal early dates. Oddly no cuckoos,
flycatchers, tanagers or orioles.

Milford Mill highlights:

WE Vireo - 1
BH Vireo - 2
Warbling Vireo - 1
RE Vireo - 1
RC Kinglet - everywhere, many in pairs, some singing
Veery - 1
Swainson's Thrush - 1
Wood Thrush - 5
Gray Catbird - 1
Blue-winged Warbler - 1, beautiful golden-yellow male
N Parula - 1
BTB - 3
Myrtle - lots
BTG - 1 heard
Black-and-white Warbler - 2
Redstart - 3
Ovenbird - 4
N Waterthrush - 1 heard
Common Yellowthroat - 2
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 1

Halethorpe Ponds:

BC Night Heron - 3
Greater Yellowlegs - 2
Lesser Yellowlegs - 6
Solitary Sandpiper - 1
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
Warbling Vireo - 4
Parula - 1
Yellow Warbler - 6
Redstart - 2
Prothonotary - 1
Yellowthroat - 4
RB Grosbeak - 1
Swamp Sparrow - 2

On Saturday, while in Millersville (AA Co.) for my daughter's volleyball
tournament, I sneaked away to check out nearby Severn Run NEA. A HOODED WARBLER
off of Dicus Mill Road was the only notable but was another personal early date.
