Hi all,
I led a small group from The Backyard Naturalist around the Blue Mash
trails on Sunday morning, but because of high winds it was rather quiet. Our best
finds were perhaps the 2 flyover male BOBOLINKS, seen by me and a few lucky
quick birders before they were gone, along with excellent looks at a male
Scarlet Tanager (a lifer for one!) which alternately sang and called from the
woods before perching right at the edge in nice sunlight. Other finds included
Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper, lots of Yellow Warblers and
Yellowthroats, Red and White-eyed Vireos, both orioles (a young male Baltimore carrying
nest material!), and lots of swallows on the big pond, including at least one
N. Rough-winged.

51 species seen/heard.
