Hello All,

I'm not sure if many of you heard about this, but I wanted to let you know
that Pennsylvania's first record of Yellow-billed Loon was well seen by many
from late Friday through at least early morning today on the Susquehanna
River near Harrisburg, PA. My family and I were able to venture up to see
it with stunning views yesterday afternoon not 20 feet offshore. I took
some photos which I would be happy to share with anyone off-list.

There is debate on the PA listserv about whether the bird was seen after
6:30 this morning, as one poster reported a group saw it take off and fly
southeast along the river, which of course ends at the Chesapeake. If true,
it may be coming to a place near you! The bird shows a very bright
ivory-colored bill with NO hint of dusky coloration at the tip, and the
culmen is very straight, giving it that upturned look.

Birdingonthe.net links to the PA listserv, to which you will have to
subscribe to get access. For directions sake, map it to the intersection of
E Front Street and Edna Street in Wormleysburg, PA.

Good luck!

Jay Keller,
Arlington, VA
