Today I finally found my way to Lake Artemsia in College Park. And I was
well rewarded. Below the highlights of a trip around the lake from roughly
06:45 to 07:45. Most notable, I think, was a lone Savannah Sparrow. It
hardly seemed like the right place for one! Also, a nice surprise, for me,
at least, were six Bobolinks.

Wood Duck – 4 (all male)
Ruddy Duck – 6 (3 males in full regalia)
Pied-billed Grebe – 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
Am. Coot – 4
Yellow-billed Cuckoo – 1
Gray Catbird - 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler – quite a few, did not keep count
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Savannah Sparrow – 1
White-throated Sparrow – 5
Swamp Sparrow – 1
Orchard Oriole – 8
Baltimore Oriole – 3
Bobolink – 6 (all male)

Since all have been well-reported for the season, did not keep track of
numbers for following species: Chimney Swift, White-eyed Vireo, House Wren,
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Catbird, Am. Crow, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Red-winged
Blackbird, Am. Goldfinch. Swallows were Tree, Barn, and N. Rough-winged.
