This morning before I went to work I had two huge surprises waiting when I
stepped outside the door. A large gobbler (~12" beard) was lurking on the
edge of the woods next to the driveway, about 30 feet from my vehicle, and
moved quickly into thick cover when I came out the garage door. A beauty!

And, I immediately noticed the change in birds from yesterday evening. Last
night was very breezy and quiet, with a moody atmosphere like it was going to
rain (6:30-7:30PM). I saw/heard only 4 species of warblers in the yard when I
got home then.

This morning, every tree seemed to have warblers hopping all over, and the
noise from the yellow-rumps was unbelievable. There were literally hundreds
of them! For 45 minutes (6:45-7:30AM) I looked at so many I could not count
them, but I did manage to find (see and hear) some other species. It was the
first major fallout I have ever seen here, I am still excited about it!

Also seen/heard:
Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1 (FOY)
E. Phoebe 2
E. Kingbird 1
White-eyed Vireo 5
Yellow-throated Vireo 2 (FOY)
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Wood Thrush 3
Am. Robins - many
Northern Parula 4-5
Yellow W. 5-6
Black-throated Blue W. 1 (FOY)
Myrtle Warbler - hundreds (~300+)!
Western Palm 2 (FOY)
Blackpoll 7-8
Black and White W. 4-5
American Redstart 1
Prothonotary W. 1
Northern Waterthrush 1
Commmon Yellowthroat 8-10
Scarlet Tanager 3
White-throated Sparrow 5
Indigo Bunting 1 (@ feeder!; FOY)

Also, the rusty blackbirds that were here all winter seem to have left either
yesterday or last night.

Cheers!!!
