I saw two Nighthawks flying around at dusk (FOY) at our house this evening.
I wonder if they migrate in groups, and then disperse when they get near to
wherever they are going. Around here, I usually only see 1-3 birds. Twice I
have seen more than this here, but it is uncommon to see more than a few at
once.

Today at Mt. Calvert (Patuxent River Park, PG County) I saw a nice flock of
20-25 Bobolinks. It was hard to count them; they did not let me approach
close (about 75 yards away at best), and they were mostly out of view on
the ground in tall vegetation, presumably foraging. I got the impression they
are shy and/or nervous. Individual birds flew up often, but usually not far,
and then went back down in the grass again. They were with a flock of
blackbirds, about 25 of them also, and also having the same foraging behavior.

Looking forward to a great weekend!
