This morning Debbie Terry and I hiked several miles of Gunpowder Falls in Baltimore County from a point between Prettyboy Dam and Falls Road down to Bunker Hill Road. We were targeting Cerulean Warblers for a later survey. Unfortunately we found none though the habitat remains suitable for most of this stretch of river. Birds that were present included:
Kingfisher 1
Hummingbird 1 heard, my first of the year
Pewee 1 heard
Acadian Flycatcher 3
Yellow-throated Vireo 6
Red-eyed Vireo 7
House Wren 1
Gnatcatcher 8
Wood Thrush 3 heard
Catbird 1
Parula 6
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1 heard
Myrtle Warbler 1 heard
Black-throated Green Warbler 3 heard
Prairie Warbler 1 heard at the powerline
Redstart 1 heard
Worm-eating Warbler 11, surprisingly the most numerous warbler
Ovenbird 7
Louisiana Waterthrush 3
Kentucky Warbler 3 heard, my first of the year
Yellowthroat 3
Hooded Warbler 3, a pair seen plus another heard singing
Scarlet Tanager 5
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 1 heard calling
Indigo Bunting 1 heard
Baltimore Oriole 3
