Excellent day at Rock Creek Park (ridge/yard/Nature Center),
despite the humidity and still air. Doug Gill was the
birder of the hour, finding for us both BAY-BREASTED (male
seen at the ridge) and KENTUCKY WARBLER (seen and heard in
the forest between the stables and the yard---only my second
sighting ever, and a lifer for at least 1 other birder!).

Other warblers seen/heard by me, in taxonomical order:
NORTHERN PARULA (lots), CHESTNUT-SIDED (heard only),
MAGNOLIA (several), BLACK-THROATED BLUE (everywhere),
YELLOW-RUMPED (a few still around), BLACK-THROATED GREEN
(everywhere), BLACKPOLL (ditto), BLACK-AND-WHITE (a couple),
AMERICAN REDSTART (again, seen everywhere), OVENBIRD (lots,
with a few giving good looks), COMMON YELLOWTHROAT (Nature
Center), and CANADA (quite a few, seen at the ridge,
stables, and Nature Center). Others heard Yellow. I
thought I *might* have heard Hooded, but doubtful, and
someone else was equally uncertain about Blue-winged.

Other highlights included my first VEERY and SWAINSON'S
THRUSH of the year (several of the former---ridge and
stables/Nature Center---and just 1 of the latter, at the
Nature Center, with 2 good looks showing the buffy
spectacles; I got a couple photos). Scarlet Tanager was
heard/seen by others. Might have heard Eastern Kingbird at
the yard.

With the storms coming through today and tomorrow, maybe
Sunday will be really good too!
