Continued to survey McKee-Beshers WMA for nesting birds. Walked from
the center parking lot to the towpath and then east to milepost 24. Retrace
my steps on the return trip for the most part, but came back through the
fields a slightly different way. Finished my day checking the impoundments.
Not a bad day-55 species. Highlights were a male turkey displaying for
at least 2 females (flushed one in the same general area on the return
trip), a singing Yellow-throated Warbler, 2 singing Northern Waterthrushes,
and a male Blue Grosbeak. Species I saw here for the first time this year
were: Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Ovenbird, and Scarlet
Tanager.
