It's been a great stretch the last few days at Ft. Bayard Park. 3 new additions to the park list: Wood Thrush (D.C.'s "state bird"), Eastern Kingbird, and yesterday a briefly-seen CANADA WARBLER joined 10 other warbler species for a rare double-digit morning. Blackpolls have arrived in force...the end is in sight.
Maybe the best birds have been the BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS: yesterday a female and today a gorgeous singing male. This is the first spring male I've seen since I've become a more serious birder and only the second I've ever seen. Looks like there was a good push of them yesterday.
Also nice today was a very cooperative singing WARBLING VIREO. ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS were present Friday and yesterday, but not today.
