Weather: Sunny; 57-69 degrees; winds from the NNE turning N, 10-12 mph, gusting to
21 mph; good visibility
Raptor Observations:
An unexpected sighting of two Mississippi Kites, both subadults at 1:45
p.m., accompanying Turkey Vultures. Unexpected in the sense that since
May 3, except for one day, we have had an easterly wind component, which
tends to push our flight westward and out of sight. The kites came in
fairly low, gained altitude, headed north to cross the water, returned
briefly, and then put on a show of speed and quickly disappeared north
over the river.

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest.
