This morning it was slow but productive in spite of occasionally windy
conditions. There were birds present but you had to work for them! Not
much in terms of warbler quantity, but a decent variety (14 species). I don't
know what other species other folks may have sen or heard; I observed all
species below. Seems like a Catharus thrushes flight occurred last night, they
were quite numerous. Also, I don't know how uncommon Bobolink is for DC,
but there were some in the "Dog Run" area this morning, in the middle of the
field. I saw a group of 6 get up, circle once, and leave (heading north);
followed by a single that got up, called a bunch as it circled. Then it landed in
a tree, and after perching quietly a moment, flew back down into the field and
began calling again. I had to go then and left.
