My husband Jim and I birded Susquehanna State park and picked up 17
warbler species. Highlights were YELLOW BREASTED CHAT on the trail behind
the picnic area, CANADA WARBLER up on the ridge trail by Rock Run and BLUE
WINGED WARBLER at the entrance to the picnic parking area. Others were
NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW WARBLER, BLACK THROATED BLUE, YELLOW
RUMPED, BLACK THROATED GREEN, CERULEAN, BLACK AND WHITE. AMERICAN
REDSTART, PROTHONOTORY, WORM EATING, OVENBIRD, LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and BLACKPOLL WARBLERS were
everywhere!
Next stop was Swan harbor which is always pleasant- we picked up 3 FOY
BANK SWALLOWS with the many TREE and BARN. INDIGO BUNTING, BLUE
GROSBEAK, EASTERN PEWEE and GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER were spotted
in the woodland trail. We flushed one BOBOLINK and several WILSON's SNIPE
along the marsh trail as well as SOLITARY SANDPIPER. Good day for a spring
migration!
