This spring, I have noticed that I have a few House Finches with yellow feathers at my feeder. A couple of males have just a few bright yellow spots amongst the red feathers on their lores and crown. But I have one male who has quite a bit of yellow, so that he appears bright yellow-orange. And another female has yellow feathers on her rump.
The Sibley book mentions a yellow variant that is most common the southwest. How common is this in the east? Do others have these yellow variants?
