I was watering my plants this morning, which are on a low shelf below
our dining room window, when I spotted a small, nondescript bird
foraging in the oak-leaf hydrangeas. At first I thought it was a
Red-eyed Vireo, but even though the bird got within 18 inches
of me, I never saw a red eye. It had a stubby tail, and the bill was not
hooked, and it didn't stand still for more than a second or two.
Although my national Geographic field guide says that Tennessee
Warblers forage high in the trees, I am wondering if I just had
my first f2f with a Tennessee Warbler that was only a few feet off the ground?
