Although juncos breed in Garrett County (and so are seen in Maryland
year-round) the Yellowbook has the late departure date from the rest
of the state set at May 30 and their earliest arrival at September 5.
These dates are as of the mid-1990s, however.  Bob Ringler, who
maintains detailed records of arrivals and departures may have later
dates since the publication of the last Yellowbook.  Whatever the
answer is, your friend really does have quite a late stayer for this
species!
