At my hummingbird feeder, the titmice and chickadees hang from the wire
hook and sip water from the ant moat if the birdbath is dry.

The other day, a flower spike that fell off a tree bridged the moat.
I discovered this when I saw a row of sugar ants hanging on the inside
wall, heads down into the syrup. They were so evenly spaced around
the perimeter it looked like the feeder was striped.
