This morning Debbie Terry and I birded the grassland areas of northwest Carroll County. There were a few notable birds and some misses as well.

Kestrel 1 male on Bullfrog Road a half mile south of Route 140.

Red-headed Woodpecker 4 adults, 1 at Bullfrog Road X McMullen Road, 2 with the kestrel, and 1 on Sixes Bridge Road a half mile west of Keysville Road. I have not seen them at these sites in the past.

Willow Flycatcher 4 or 5 heard along various roads.

Grasshopper Sparrow - depressingly few with the best view on Baumgardner Road a half mile south of Bullfrog Road. We encountered no Vespers or Savannahs which should also be in the area.

Blue Grosbeak 2, a silent male on Study Road just west of the farm with the big pond and a calling male on Baumgardner Road with the Grasshopper Sparrow.

Bobolink 2 or 3 males singing at Keysville Road X Hagerstown Lane, a traditional location.
