Many years ago I had a raccoon problem with feeders. I got metal chain and 
hung the suet feeder (made of heavy wire) with the chain going to the 
ground and anchored to a large cinder block. Then the coons could not pull 
the feeder up to empty it. This worked well. We did this at at least 2 
locations.
